On Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014 at 7:50 p.m., the City of Poughkeepsie Police 911 center received calls reporting shots fired in the area of 128 Garden St. A short time later the 911 Center received a call from Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital reporting a shooting victim in the Emergency Room.

 

Officers responded to the hospital and found a 23-year-old city resident suffering from gunshot wounds. A short time later the victim was pronounced dead. A crime scene was found in front of 129 Garden St.

 

An autopsy is being conducted this morning by the Dutchess County Medical Examiner. This is the first firearm related homicide in the city this year, and it was not a random act of violence.
