Weekly Crime Report for 10-20-14 thru 10-24-14

IDENTITY THEFT – BET 10-16-12 & 10-16-14

A resident on the 40000 block of Walter Drive, located in the area of Ryan and 18 Mile, reported that he was notified by DTE Energy that he had a very large outstanding account balance for a business in Detroit. The victim stated he did not open an account, nor did he give anyone permission to open an account. 

 

 TRAFFIC HAZARD – 10-19-14 0837 HRS.

A concerned driver reported that there were several storm drain covers removed on Leonardo Drive, located in the area of Canal and M53.  It was found that two covers were turned upright and another drain cover was removed and missing. 

 

JUVENILE MISCHIEF – 10-19-14 BET. 0030 HRS & 0800 HRS.

A resident on the 11000 block of Ontario Drive, located in the area of Canal and M53, reported that there was industrial spray foam and screws in the street at the end of his driveway.

 

ILLEGAL USE OF CREDIT CARD – 10-20-14 0830 HRS.

The victim reported that someone obtained his credit/debit card number and used it at 4 different businesses in Sterling Heights.  The victim stated he still is in possession of the card, but it has now been deactivated by his credit union.

 

LARCENY/MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY – BET. 10-17-14 1510 HRS. & 10-19-14 1800 HRS.

A resident on the 11000 block of Ontario Drive, located in the area of M53 and Canal, reported that someone stole a USPS delivered package from his front porch and he also had several pumpkins smashed which were within his landscaping.

 

MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY – BET. 10-19-14 2200 HRS. & 10-20-14 0800 HRS.

An employee on the 11000 block of 15 Mile Road, located west of Maple Lane, reported that the business next to his, which is vacant, had its door knob torn off.  It appears that entry was not gained.

 

FRAUD – 9-17-14

The victim reported that someone used her credit card at Walmart, located on Van Dyke, in the amount of $192.67.  The victim was still in possession of her credit card.

 

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES – 10-21-14 1700 HRS.

A resident reported that the front door of a home, located on the 35000 block of Evanston, was open.  The house is a dilapidated vacant home.  No one was found inside.

 

LARCENY FROM VEHICLE – BET. 10-20-14 1900 HRS. & 10-21-14 1100 HRS.

A resident on the 38000 block of Filly Drive, located in the area of 17 Mile and Ryan, reported that his wallet which contained credit cards, a debit card, cash and miscellaneous other cards was stolen from his pickup truck which was parked in his driveway.  His credit card was used at 3 different locations before he cancelled it.  The victim was unsure if he locked his truck.

 

FRAUD – BET. 10-8-14 AND 10-14-14

A resident on the 3000 block of Bates Drive, located in the area of 17 Mile and Ryan, reported that he went to Chase Bank on Van Dyke to cash his State of Michigan check. He signed the back of the check, but the ATM was being serviced so he left.  Upon returning to the bank later, he could not find the check and does not know if it was lost or stolen.  It was discovered that someone cashed the check at an unknown location.

 

MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY – BET. 10-21-14 2230 HRS. & 10-22-14 0530 HRS.

A resident on the 8000 block of Constitution Blvd., located in the area of 18 Mile and Van Dyke,  reported that someone spray painted unknown words on the driver’s door of his vehicle.

 

LARCENY – BET. 10-21-14 1800 HRS. & 10-22-14 0630 HRS.

The foreman of a cement company reported someone stole the back sliding window from a backhoe which was parked in a vacant lot on the 6000 block of 18 Mile, located east of Mound.

 

BURGLARY – BET. 10-22-14 1900 HRS. & 10-23-14 0950 HRS.

It was reported that someone attempted to gain entry into the rear door of two businesses located in a strip mall on the 14000 block of 15 Mile Road, located east of Moravian.  The door handles were broken off and found on the ground. It appeared that an unknown object, possibly a large square concrete block next to the door, was used to break the handles.  Entry was not made into either business.
