Missing Endangered Person

On April 2, 2015 at 5:40pm a male called City 911 reporting that he and a friend had been smoking PCP while sitting near the Hudson River. The caller first reported that his friend had “run off”, the caller was told to stay where he was so the Police could be sent to speak with him further. However, the caller was not in the area and could not be located. Sometime later the caller called back, this time reporting that his friend had gone into the river. Later the caller came to Police HQ, and was able to show the Police where he saw his friend go in the river.

A search was begun along the shoreline by the City of Poughkeepsie Police and out into the Hudson by the United States Coast Guard which happened to be in the area and the New York State Police Aviation Unit which came up from Stewart Airport. The missing male, identified as a 29 year old Wappinger Falls resident, was not located. The Coast Guard remained in the area overnight, the New York State Police Aviation Unit returned Friday morning. However as of this Press Release the male has not been found.
