Man Charged With Stolen Property

On Wednesday, June 24, at approximately 06:05 a.m., City of Poughkeepsie Police officers responded to a location on Kingston Avenue for a reported break-in to a garage in which a bike was reported stolen. A short time later, while on foot patrol on Main Street, officers observed a subject riding a bike matching the description of the stolen bicycle. That subject was detained and transported to police headquarters along with the bike, which was positively identified as the one stolen from Kingston Avenue. The suspect, identified as Dale Norwood, 18, of the City of Poughkeepsie, was charged with fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property, a class E felony. Norwood was also found to be in possession of several bags of loose change that may the proceeds of recent vehicle break-ins in the Hooker Avenue area.

Norwood was arraigned in City Court and was released on his own recognizance.
