On Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, MICHAEL E. DECKER, a 54-year-old Level 3 Registered Sex Offender in the City of Poughkeepsie, came to Police Headquarters to complete his 90-day registration as required by law.

During his interview while completing the registration process it was learned that he had several electronic devices that allowed him access to the internet that he had not registered with New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. Further investigation revealed that at least one of these devices contained child pornography.

DECKER was charged with ten counts of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child, E felonies, as well as one count of failure to register and verify as a sex offender, a D felony. He was arraigned and sent to DCJ on $50,000 cash or bond.

At this time it does not appear that any of the children seen in the photos are local, although the investigation into DECKER’s activities and further examination of his electronic devices is continuing.
