City Officer Injured in Accident Tuesday
On Feb. 26, 2013 the Village of Wappinger Falls Police Department began a pursuit of a 2007 white Honda in the Village of Wappinger Falls. This vehicle had been reported stolen to the Village of Wappinger Falls Police the day before, and that morning was seen leaving the scene of a reported burglary in the Village of Wappinger Falls. The white Honda entered the City of Poughkeepsie while being pursued by the Village of Wappinger Falls Police and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Department. Marked units from the City of Poughkeepsie Police were sent into the area where the pursuit was happening. As the white Honda, being operated by CARL L. CLARK, Jr., a 31-year-old Beacon resident, was driving eastbound on Main Street near Detective John Falcone Memorial Blvd., CLARK deliberately drove the vehicle into City of Poughkeepsie marked unit #10 being operated by a uniformed Officer of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department, which was stopped in the westbound lane of Main Street. The resulting crash resulted in the Officer being transported to Saint Francis Hospital for injuries. CLARK was also transported to Saint Francis for injuries. CLARK was taken into custody by the Village of Wappinger Falls Police for charges relating to a domestic incident and burglary which had occurred in the Village of Wappinger Falls. Charges against CLARK are pending in the City of Poughkeepsie and these charges will include Attempted Aggravated Assault upon a Police Officer.
