Man Charged in Sunday Shooting
On Sunday, April 20, 2014 at 1:53 a.m. officers from the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department responded to 352 Main St. and found a 24-year-old City of Poughkeepsie resident on the ground suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was admitted. The victim stated he did not know who shot him or why. None of the people in the area would cooperate with the Police.
After an investigation, information was developed by the City of Poughkeepsie Police Detective Division that the shooter in this incident was DWAYNE MIMA, a 33-year-old city resident.
On Thursday, April 24, 2014 information was developed that MIMA was at 5 Manitou Ave. in the City of Poughkeepsie. The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department Emergency Services Unit, City of Poughkeepsie Police Detective Division, members of the Dutchess County Drug Task Force and United States Marshal Service went to 5 Manitou Ave. After a two-hour standoff MIMA was taken into custody without incident. MIMA was charged with Assault 1st degree, a B felony, and held pending arraignment.
