Man Charged With Criminal Gun Possession
On Sunday, May 11, 2014 at 2:25 a.m. City of Poughkeepsie Police officers responded to the area of 17 Academy St. for a report of a man in a car waving a gun and threatening to shoot people. Responding officers observed a vehicle matching the description leaving the area and after stopping the vehicle found the front seat passenger matched the description of the man waving the gun and threatening people. A loaded 9mm handgun was located under the front passenger seat. The gun was found to belong to the driver of the vehicle who possessed a valid pistol permit, and who claimed to not have seen what the front seat passenger was doing. The front seat passenger, JEREMY LEE a 25-year-old city resident, was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, a class C felony. He was held pending arraignment. The City of Poughkeepsie Police will be following up with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Pistol Permit Bureau on the status of the driver's pistol permit. The handgun was seized for evidence.
