Handgun Recovered During Traffic Stop
On July 26, 2014 at 4:26 p.m. City of Poughkeepsie police officers stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Oakley and North Clinton streets. The driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old city resident CURTIS D. WHITE, was found to have a suspended license. During the stop the officers noticed the butt of a 357 magnum Ruger revolver sticking out from under the front passenger floor mat; 33 glassine envelopes of heroin was also found between the front driver’s seat and front passenger seat. The handgun’s serial number had been removed.
The driver, CURTIS D. WHITE, and the front passenger, 25-year-old city resident TAMEL HARGROVE were both taken into custody. WHITE was charged with having a suspended license as well as Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree. HARGROVE was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd and 3rd as well as Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree. Both were held pending their arraignment. This is the 29th handgun recovered this year by the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department.
