Man Shot During Robbery Attempt


On Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at 11:45 p.m. officers from the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department responded to Holmes Street for a report of a man shot. The officers found a 19-year-old city resident shot once in the upper arm.

The victim was transported to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital where he was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim reports he was walking in the area of Bartlett Park on Hooker Avenue when he was approached by a thin black male wearing a black shirt with “Everlast” on the front who pulled out a gun put it to the victim's arm and demanded the victim “empty” his pockets. The victim resisted and the suspect shot him and the victim fled to Holmes Street seeking help. The suspect got no property from the victim.
