Two Arrested for Burglary
On Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at about 12:30 p.m., City of Poughhkeepsie Police Dispatch received a call from a resident on Worrall Avenue reporting suspicious activity. The caller provided a description of two individuals. An area check for these two subjects was conducted by responding officers with negative results.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., Detective Garth Mason observed the two suspicious subjects in the area of Worrall Avenue and Baker Street. Detective Mason stopped these two subjects. During the course of the investigation, City of Poughkeepsie Police Dispatch was contacted by a resident on Wilson Boulevard in regards to a burglary that just occurred at a residence. The two individuals that were stopped by Detective Mason were in possession of stolen proceeds from this burglary. Both subjects were placed under arrest.
As a result of the investigation, Michael T. Myers, 29, homeless, and Shawn M. Smith, 27, homeless, were arrested and charged with burglary in the second degree, a class C felony; criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, a class E felony; and grand larceny in the fourth degree, a class E felony.
Michael T. Myers is also currently on probation.
