Highland Park Police Department
A Message from Chief Shafer:
Welcome to CitizenObserver, the latest innovative law-enforcement tool in use by the Highland Park Police Department. We are very excited about this program and its capabilities, which will help keep us connected with you, the community.
We continually look to see what new or better ideas are on the horizon with the goal of taking our organization to the next level of professionalism and service. Foremost in this effort is effective communication with the public. Without it, we fail in our objective. With it, we develop trust and become mutual partners in helping create and sustain a safe, comfortable community in which to live and raise our families.
With the CitizenObserver alert system we can get important, critical information to you at near instantaneous speed. There is even a mapping system whereby you can view alerts via Google maps, allowing you to visualize where the incident is occurring or has occurred. Subscribers may sign up for free to receive alerts via e-mail or as a text message to a cell phone or both. Business owners and residents will also be able to opt into business or neighborhood watch groups which are relevant to a specific area of the city or particular type of business. The other component of this technology is the tip capability, which will enable the public to submit anonymous tips to the Police Department to help us solve crimes they may have information about.
We look forward to our continued partnership with you to keep our community safe.
Sincerely,
Paul S. Shafer, Chief of Police
