Air Conditioner Thefts

District Two is experiencing an increase in Air Conditioner Unit thefts. The thefts are occurring during the overnight hours. The unknown suspect(s) are disassembling the central air unit and taking the inner coils and copper. In some instances they actually took the entire unit from the yard. If you see anything that appears to be suspicious or someone that appears to be working in your neighbors yard but looks out of place please contact the police.

Theft From Autos - Mt. Lookout

District Two has experienced a rash of theft from autos. More than 50 offenses have been reported in the Mt. Lookout area in the past two weeks. Windows are being pried open and/or broken and the suspects are taking mostly loose change, GPS, and Ipods. All citizens are asked to report any suspicious acitivity to the police immediately by calling 911.

District Two would like to make the community aware of a growing burglary problem involving garages. The suspect(s) are entering opened and/or unlocked garages and taking lawn equipment, bicycles and tools. The whole offense could take less than one minute.

District Two - Daytime Burglary Warning

Mt. Washington and Madisonville have both experienced daytime burglaries with the same method of operation:

The burglaries occurred in multi-family dwellings which contain laundry rooms adjacent to apartments. The suspect(s) utilizes the laundry room to cut through a section of drywall to enter the complainant's apartment. The apartments were ransacked for jewelry, laptops and other small valuables.

UPC Fraud

District Two is investigating an offense in which the suspect was printing UPC Codes in the back of white Ford Econoline van.

The suspect goes into box stores and selects high priced items and switches the UPC codes to a similar item at a greatly reduced price. The suspect was arrested at the Meijers in Oakley. A search of the suspect's van produced laptops, 100's of UPC labels, label maker and shipping material.

Suspect: Robert Reid male white 8-16-56 LKA: Louisville, Ky

Preliminary investigation sugests he might be committing this type of offense in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.

Credit Card Fraud

Cincinnati Police District Two recently made an arrest for the following offense.

The suspect(s) are scrambling store satellite signals by climbing the roof of the business and covering the receivers with aluminum foil. The suspects then use stolen credit cards to purchase prepaid Visa cards and/or fuel. The credit card system is offline during the transaction and the business is unaware until the suspect(s) are gone. The credit card system remains down until the aluminum foil is removed. We have several United Dairy Farmer stores that have been targeted.

Nighttime Burglary

The District Two area has experienced a few nighttime burglaries. The offenses have occurred in the Oakley neighborhood between the hours of midnight and 6 am. The suspect(s) will take a rock or other hard object from the yard and break a window to the residence. Suspect(s) take items (purses, laptops and cell phones) that are in plain view from window or door. The offense is very similar to the traditional smash and grabs from businesses where the suspect gets in and out quickly. Please keep valuables hidden and not visible from windows and doors.

A second shooting offense in the last 3 weeks has occurred at 6300 Montgomery Rd on 5/4/2010 at 12:40am.

The District 2 Violent Crime Squad is investigating a shooting offense that occurred at 6300 Montgomery Rd around 12:40am in which a victim was shot 3 times after over 15 shots were fired into the front doorway of the apartment building.

General Information: Offense occurred at 4825 Marburg - Oakley

On today's date, an elderly female victim was approached by a heavy set male black in his 50's and walks with a cane. He told the victim that he found a wallet that contained a bond worth over $40,000. A second suspect then approached stating that his boss said they would be able to keep the bond. The second suspect is described as a male black also in his 50's. They convinced the victim to go to a local bank and withdrawel $5000 in exchange for the bond. Once in possession of the money, they fled in a dark suv, possible a black Ford Explorer.

Misuse of Credit Card/Theft

On 3-25-10 at 1900, a credit card was stolen from 2038 Beechmont Av. The suspects then proceeded to multiple locations in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky and charged over $1500 in merchandise on March 25th and 26th. Suspects are driving a white van. Footlocker Business Robbery 4-4-10

On 4-4-10, the Footlocker Store located at 1 West Corry was robbed at gunpoint. The suspect is described as a male black, 6'00", 170lbs, and was wearing a Jamaican style Rasta Hat with fake dreadlocks. The suspect demanded cash and fired shots at the store employee. The suspect ran from the store and got into an unknown type of vehicle.

Green Dot Mastercard Scam

District Two is currently investigating an ongoing scam involving pre-paid Green Dot Mastercards. The suspects are going through the U-scan at several Kroger Stores and reloading the Mastercards. Prior to completing the transaction, the suspect will distract the cashier and leave the store. The suspect then immediately transfers the Green Dot Mastercard balance to a separate account before the cashier has a chance to void the transaction. The whole offense takes place in about a 2 minute time span.

Thefts at Walgreens Hyde Park

Recently Walgreens on Paxton Ave in the Hyde Park Plaza has had thefts of electronics; specifically small flat screen televisions. Attatched is a picture of the suspect from the most recent offense. The thefts occurred the first week of February and have very little suspect information. If anyone recognizes the suspect in the picture or has any information about where the televisions are going please contact crime stoppers.

Theft from Evanston Community Center

A theft occurred from the Evanston Community Center located at 3552 Montgomery Rd. Taken in the offense was a black, Atlas speaker, 12”x 8”. The speaker was mounted on a pole that the suspect apparently climbed to get down. I do not have any suspect information at this time. Burglaries in District Two

District two is still experiencing a high volume of Burglaries to vacant and occuppied residences. These offenses are occurring all hours of the day and are widespread throughout our district. The police department is requesting that all homeowners document all their serial numbers on all relevant property. This helps not only track the stolen property but also for insurance purposes. Property taken include: laptops, flatscreen tvs, playstations and jewelery. If a person has an unique piece of jewelry it would also be helpful to take pictures of these for your records. If neighbors will be extra watchful of each other and report anything that does not look quite right this helps the investigators immenesly. If you would like a security survey of your home do not hesitate to call District 2 at 979-4400 and request to speak with your neighborhood liason officer.

The vehicle is described as

Ford Tempo, Red, possibly bearing a dealer plate. The vehicle has heavy front end damage, and no bumper.

Update on theft from United Dairy Farmers

A citizen alert was sent out on December 30th regarding a theft that occurred on December 12, 2009 at the United Dairy Farmers on Kellogg Ave.. Taken in the offense was all of the contents of the pharmaceutical aisle at the store.

The vehicle that was intially reported to be involved in the offense has since been determined to be unrelated. The vehicle originally reported was a silver Ford Focus with Kentucky plates.

Theft From Autos

There have been numerous thefts from automobiles reported in the Oakley and recently moving into the northern area of Hyde Park.

Citizens are asked to remove ALL items from their auto and to keep valuables out of view when parked. Please notify the Police of any suspicious activityin your neighborhood. If you have any information which may help to identify a suspect, please direct it to District Two Cincinnati Police.

Stolen Emerald Ring

This Emerald ring was sold to a local jewelry store by Ryan Francis in November of 2009. We are unable to locate this listed property on any of our offense reports. The ring is 14K white gold with diamonds and a 3.16 cts Emerald on a finger fit shank. Please contact District 2 if you have knowledge of this ring, or Crime Stoppers at 352-3040.
