The Chelsea Police are advising motorist that the city has a Capital Improvement Project on Washington Ave from Addison Street to the Revere Beach Parkway. Several infrastructure upgrades are scheduled to take place over the next several months. These may cause temporary parking bans as well as detours. CPD officers will be assigned to aid motorists in navigating any partial road closure. Any work will not affect MBTA bus routes as they will be able to pass thorough all construction sites

Chelsea St Bridge Closure

The Chelsea Street Bridege will be closed starting June 1st through December 1st for repairs, The Chelsea Police department is asking motorists to utilize the posted detour signs beginning June 1st. Chelsea Police Officers will be assigned traffic posts during rush hour traffic to aid wih the flow of traffic.

The Chelsea Street Bridge is currently stuck in the upright position. All motorists are advised to use Route 1A as an alternate route. Unkown when bridge will be reopened to traffic!!!!

Water Break

Please stay clear of the Lower Broadway section of Chelsea. A water break has traffic closed from Broadway at Williams St to the end of Broadway. The break has also forced the closure of the Beacon Street off-ramp of the Tobin Bridge. Commuters should seek an alternate route to Logan Airport

Looking for Vehicle involved in Hit and Run

Chelsea Police are looking for help in identifying the vehicle and person/s involved in a hit and run fatality on Tuesday evening at the corner of Blossom St and Maple St at 11:09 PM. Vehicle has been described as either a dark colored sedan or dark colored-pick-up truck. If you have any information please call Chelsea PD detectives at 1-617-466-2864

drug take back this saturday

Chelsea Police Announce “Be Alert to Census Scams”

Beginning March of this year the U.S. Census Bureau's will send out a short questionnaire to every household in the U.S. and Puerto Rico in an effort to collect important demographic data. As a citizen, you are required by law to respond to the 10 short questions. From April to July, those that haven't completed their census will receive a visit at their home address from a census taker.

Identity criminals are taking advantage of the census law and targeting unsuspecting victims in an attempt to steal sensitive information. The scams perpetrated range from fraudulent emails designed to obtain sensitive information to attempts to impersonate census collectors.

Most Citizens don't think twice about sharing personal information with a census worker, and that's why these scams can be very effective. It's important to remember there are distinct differences between a real census worker and an identity thief posing as a census worker.

U.S. Census workers will have identification, a handheld device and a confidentiality notice. But these things can be easily fabricated, so it's important to know what census workers will not do:

• They will not ask for your Social Security number or financial information, e.g. bank or credit card accounts.
• They will not ask you for money or say that you owe money.
• They will not harass or intimidate you.
• They will not contact you by email- only by phone, by mail, or in person.

The Chelsea Police are advising residents to call the police if they encounter any persons or emails that they feel are not legitimate.
