Homewood Police took a fraud report today from one of our residents.  The resident received a call from the Homewood Police Department's main phone number (205 332 6200).  A Middle Eastern male told our victim that one of her accounts had been compromised.  The victim was instructed to go purchase a pre-paid Visa card and load money onto it.  The victim was instructed to take a picture of the front and back of the card and text those images to a number.  The caller then advised the victim that a Homewood Police Officer would come to her residence and give the victim a reimbursement check.  The Homewood Police Department never solicits money over the phone for any reason. This is a spoofing scam involving our main PD number!  If anyone receives a similar call please do not cooperate with the callers demands.  Contact Homewood Police at 205 332 6200 and report it immediately.
