FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH
On May 2nd,
2020 at approximately 4:11AM, members of the Vineland Police Department’s
Traffic Safety Unit were dispatched to the area of West Landis Avenue by the
Route 55 overpass in regards to a two vehicle crash with life threatening
injuries. The crash involved a 2003
Suzuki GSX600 motorcycle and a 2006 Honda Accord.
The preliminary investigation
revealed the motorcycle operated by Eugene T. Kirby 3rd, age 34 of Franklin NJ,
was traveling westbound on West Landis Avenue as it lost control on the inside
lane of travel by the curbed median.
Kirby was then thrown off his motorcycle as he was shortly thereafter
struck by the Honda Accord operated by Debra Knowles, age 38 of Vineland NJ,
who was also traveling westbound on West Landis Avenue.
As a result of the
crash, Kirby succumbed to his injuries on scene.
No charges have been
filed at this time and the investigation is still ongoing. Officer Paul Cifuentes of the Traffic Safety
Unit is the lead investigator of the case.
